I'm going to yoga tonight and I'm v. excited :D :D It's the same class where I'm pretty sure I tore the ligament in my back. I wish knew specifically what I did so that I would never do it again but it didn't hurt at the moment I tore it.

I'm still in PT. I'm not actually sure how long the place thinks I'll continue going but since my chiro, whose due date was last Thursday, is going to be out for six weeks, I suspect the care plan is going to kinda fall apart. I've already rejected her replacement and the guy I'm seeing now... meh. I mean, he's fine but really not a crackerjack. I started exercises for my core last week and increased the repetitions on my own this week. I'm going to ask for the stage 2 exercises tomorrow. After that, I'm supposed to have decompression for two weeks. Basically, I decided that they could have three more weeks of my life and then I'm pretty much done (until my back goes out again...which it will but hopefully my regular doctor will be back by then--or maybe it'll never happen again! *fingers crossed*).

Anyway, yoga! Having "taken it easy" these last three months means that I've really lost a lot of flexibility and strength that I had before. My hamstrings, hip flexors, and quads are incredibly tight as a result of the back injury and spondylolethesis so I can't really touch the floor anymore (soooo close) or touch my toes. I don't want to injure something else or re-injure my back, so I'm not pushing it but it's really frustrating.

Whinge whinge whinge :D I really am excited to be able to go in the middle of the week. It's a bit annoying that the only night I can go home straight after work is Friday, but I'm more annoyed with it when it's for PT than (obviously) yoga. This studio is literally one of my most favorite places to be. I just want to be there all the time and have that really yummy sense of peace and exertion (because as much as I love it, it is definitely a challenge). Tonight's class is a Deep Stretch class, which I'm going to go to for four or five weeks before switching to an intermediate vinyasa flow class on Wednesday nights. In two more weeks, I'm also switching to a all levels vinyasa class on Sundays. The word "intermediate" scares me a bit, honestly, but I think I'm ready. If not, I'll just switch back with no worries. I know there's a fine line between pushing too hard and challenging myself. I'm hoping I don't cross over one or fall short of the other.

I'm also on the look out for a travel yoga mat. I've found a couple but it's hard to know what will be best when they're on the internet so I can't really touch them (so see if they're too thin) or fold them (to see if they will actually truly work for travel). Does anyone have one that they love or hate? I'm going to Ohio in May, Florida in October and December, and...somewhere in September so I think it'll be a good investment (who really wants to do yoga on a hotel floor without a mat?). I'm also looking for a yoga studio in Ohio to visit with my (somewhat reluctant) sister and want to be able to have my own mat. The one I own now is too thick to pack and it's actually beginning to fall apart. It was pretty cheap to begin with but I didn't want to buy a new one until I had completed a year (in case I flaked off after a month, which was a concern). I'm planning to buy myself one for my birthday, either from lululemon or Jade. Jade has one that's extra wide, which would be awesome for staking out space in the studio :D

Okay, I think I'm done :D ahaha Yoga! It makes me really fucking happy. The university is sponsoring an outdoor yoga class on the the spring solstice and I'm so tempted. I'd have to be a bit late to work but not too much. I'm not convinced I have the nerve to practice with a bunch of co-eds but the drawback is also the draw :D

Okay! Walk, then work, then hopefully formatting my recs for [livejournal.com profile] escribo. I haven't done one in a while and I have some fic I want to share.
