I have two brothers so I tried to remember what they sounded like when they were young. I imagine that Remus would have been a bit of an odd duck, at least how I've written his backstory--isolated with no friends his own age and a father who sense of play involved solving math problems, history texts, and science experiments. James, I think, would find him especially fascinating, appreciating his smarts but wanting to corrupt him a little, but emotionally James needs Sirius in order to relate to Remus.
