modern dentistry

Root canal today *wibble* To say that I'm nervous would definitely be an understatement. It's for the same tooth, actually, that started my fear of dentists when I was 7. Once I'm home (with the good drugs right?), I'm planning a Jane Austen film marathon (in between sleeping, I suppose) and cross stitching, which I find endlessly soothing. As a reward for being a Big Girl about my tooth (assuming there are no tears, yeah?), my mom bought me a special treat: a hunk of really good gruyere. There are already plans for a lovely French onion soup at the end of the week.

I was not, however, too afraid to have breakfast this morning ^.^ I had made some pear and apple sauce last night to go in oatmeal this week, which turned out excellent.

As a root canal veteran, I sympathize wholeheartedly. I hope yours goes smoothly. Your plan for relaxing afterwards sounds superb! <3

The procedure went smoothly, thank you, and so far I've had no pain (though the numbness took nearly eight hours to wear off. It was still traumatic but I suppose I'll get over it.

You'll be fiiiiine. :D I'm guessing you didn't get fully knocked out, otherwise they would have advised against eating anything beforehand, and I am proof of the wisdom of that advice. o.o But afterward, yes, just relax and enjoy the foofy faffiness of post-drugged-up-dentistry. :)

No knocking out, just a lot of pinchy shots. I'm still a little uptight, but mostly okay. I was so glad it was over only to find out I have to go back. Unfair!

I had a root canal and it was OK, the oral surgeon was very concerned that I not feel any pain, kept asking. So I hope yours is relatively easy!

Mine was very careful about pain, too, which was helpful. And now pain now, though it took eight hours for the numbness to wear off. It was mostly an emotional thing, and I found the whole thing terribly upsetting. I'd be glad it was over, if I didn't have to go back for a second procedure in a couple of weeks.

I'm so glad it went OK, I hope you have as little pain as possible.
