Hi hi hello :D It's August, which means work is beyond trying. Classes start tomorrow, which will help some, but only 7 more business days until September!
It's been so long since I've posted, I don't remember what's happened since then. Let's see...
I took the GMAT on August 11 and...it wasn't pretty. I'm taking it again on September 29. I've already studied more and more productively than I ever did for the first one. I had to back out of most of my fandom commitments but outside of work and yoga, which I'll never give up, I didn't have much more to let go. I keep having to remind myself that I'm not depriving myself, I'm helping myself, that the extra studying is for the good of my soul. I'm almost convinced. I'm also already convinced that I will do better the second time. I simply had no idea and just...it was almost comical how poorly I tested, straight down to the blinding headache at the end of it because I didn't have my glasses and I didn't take breaks for 4 hours.
Yoga. OMG yoga. I've loved few things/activities as much as I do yoga. It's brilliant. I'm calmer (most days). I've (mostly) learned not to walk around with my shoulders around my ears. I can walk faster, which is hilarious to me (I tested it today by "racing" undergrads around campus--I've never walked faster than the students). The first day I could bend at the waist and put my hands flat on the floor was like a revelation. I go twice a week--a gentle flow practice and yin, and both are brilliant for different reasons. I'm a little in love with gentle flow teacher, a 54 year old woman who started yoga three years ago. We hug after each practice--I don't hug. I mean, I hug Laura when I see her and when we part, and I think she's the only person I hug all year. I'm really not a hugger, but this teacher and I just clicked. The other teacher is the owner of the studio and seriously hard core. That's the class I sweat in, and that I know is improving my form and strength. I want to add a third but have to sort some things out first.
What else? I think that might be it. Yoga and GMAT studying. And work. Very rarely I'll update the fic I'm writing and posting anonymously (which is rather fun) in the
suits_meme more than what I have posted in
escribo but outside of that I haven't written a word since the end of June. Sad. I want to. I really want to but oh man work. My plea to parents everywhere: let your children grow up and learn how to take care of their business. College is a great time to learn to do that, for you both. Anyway, work.
And studying, which I have to do now.
