I'm at a conference far from my Star Wars Legos Wii game and feeling lonely without Legos Han Solo and, strangely incompetent at my job. I'm still sorting that last out. Anyway, sessions alllll day tomorrow and Tuesday, and a two hour long thing (half business meeting, half lecture with, I suspect, a dreaded motivational speaker, and a reception after that's making me feel queasy just thinking about it. Socializing! With People!! *wilts*)

Anyway. YOU can save me! Yes, YOU! Meme me.

It'd been nearly a year since Remus had come, expecting only to stay in London for two days--granted permission to present his findings about his studies (at the time, his only passion) at a conference he'd never thought he'd be invited to attend. Before everything--before the war had come--the arrivals gate at Heathrow had been once of his favorite places; though, as both prisoner and refugee, he'd never thought his preference would be put to this sort of test. I can help you, Sirius had whispered urgently though not for the first time, but this time, as Sirius had clinged to Remus' arm, his nails making half-moon circles in the soft, pale flesh of Remus' arm as he'd leaned in close enough so that Remus could feel his warm breath against the shell of his ear, Remus nodded, whispering his story before he lost his nerve.

At some point, Billy's life had been reduced to points of ever dwindling data--infection rate, outbreak distribution, biomonitoring; all boiled down to tell this: the chance of surviving what his colleagues still insisted on calling the zombie apocalypse was a grim 20 to 1. They weren't zombies, his patients, at least not a rabble of the brainless, reanimate from death into flesh seeking devourers of humans like in the movies he used to watch in his free time, back when he had free time. Free time now is spent grabbing a cup of stale coffee in the staff break room, blearily staring at Dominic's arse, remembering the time when he'd have Dominic on a guerney rather than a brief nap, a thought that rather renews his energy more than weak coffee and strengthens his resolve on the path to a cure.

"Conjuring dragons to scare off the villagers isn't as easy as it looks; I don't know why you persist."

"The trials are rather a bore, I'll grant you," Sirius laughed as he rubbed his wrists and then turned to the business of tidying up as he continued, his eyes twinkling as he considered any of the 12 times he's been burned at the stake for being a wizard, "but the burnings are nice, and the Muggles seem to enjoy it as well; they do so seem to like a good conflagration."

Hmmm... I already used Remus/Sirius in space in the past, which is a shame because that's always a fun one. Well, I'll throw some out there. Feel free to use any or all as you wish.
