Bonus Material: These Four Kings

Bonus! I think it treads over the same ground so didn't bother to finish it, but I still like it. I like the dialogue and Sirius pulling a prank on James and showing how much James really cares for both Remus and James. So, I decided to add it here.



The next day, Remus leaves the room before James and Sirius, and isn’t at breakfast. James is feeling guilty because Sirius lets him think things had gone wrong. In charms, Remus comes in late and sits in the only seat open, next to Matt McKinnon across the room from James and Sirius. Sirius spends most of the class staring at Remus and Remus is talking to Matt and James is feeling worse.

That night, Sirius finds Remus in the library and pulls him into the stacks and kisses him. Remus asks, “How long are you going to let James suffer?”

“I don’t know. It’s been a long time since I pulled a prank on James.”

“Lily’s been trying to talk to me all day. No doubt to apologize for sticking me with you.”

Sirius, who was busy pressing kisses to Remus’ jaw, hummed in delight. “Sticking.”

Remus puts his hands on either side of Sirius’ face and kissed him hard, Sirius’ hands fisting in the back of Remus’ jumper.

“How much longer are you going to be here?” Sirius asks

“Hour or so, if I don’t have anyone distracting me.”

“Who’s distracting you? I’ll hex them into next week.” Sirius puts his head down on Remus’ shoulder and groans. “Prongs is going to be insufferable.”

"We should probably get it over with sooner rather than later."

"I'll tell him. Tomorrow maybe." Sirius nuzzles at Remus' neck and then they kiss again. "I'll come get you in an hour."

James showed up and Sirius eases out without James seeing him. Remus comes out with a book and sits at his table.

"Have you seen Sirius since charms?"

"He was at dinner."

"I know but.” ... “Listen, I'm sorry about the other night but Sirius is really in love with you."

"Shh," Remus looks around and then pulls his parchment closer, James leans in closer. "Lily told me about why you and Sabine broke up. [Remus called her by Sirius' name whilst snogging] I just thought--"

"You didn't tell Sirius, did you?"

"No."

"But Remus maybe--"

"No. You don't think it's embarrassing enough that you and Lily knows? All I need is Sirius’ ego to find out."

"Okay. All right. But promise me you'll talk to Sirius."

"What about exactly?"

"About whatever went wrong. I mean, I'm sure you were gentle in turning him down."

"Maybe he turned me down."

James eyed him, suddenly suspicious. "He wouldn't have. I'm just worried that he might do something drastic."

"Like what? He’s been turned down before."

“So you did turn him down. Remus--" James shook his head sadly "Look. He never cared about the girls, right. It's only been you since fifth year, probably before, and I really thought that the two of you just needed a nudge in the right direction, as it were. I wouldn't have done it if I'd known it would make things weird between you two."

“So I’d been talking to him just to ease your conscious?”

“No. Not just.”

“Sirius will be all right.”

“He needs you.”

“I’m not going anywhere, James.”

“You know what I mean.”

“I don’t know that I do.”

“He goes a bit mad without you."

"James--"

"No, hear me out. We're all he has...

"I'll talk to him.”

“Good man.”

“When I'm done here.”
