(no subject)
I was back at the dentist this morning to finish up my root canal (and now I'm at work, a little numb but all right). The procedure today took about twenty minutes, during which my dentist talked pretty much nonstop about Marco Polo and the "discovery" of the new world. It was pretty interesting and immensely amusing/diverting. Some time ago I had bought a translation of The Travels of Marco Polo and never read them. I think it'll go into my stack of books to be read tonight.
Right now, I'm reading Jane Eyre, which I had read once before ages ago. I was perfectly charmed by it that time, and while I'm enjoying it now, it's not with the same love as when I first read it. I had just finished The Hobbit, which I first read when I was 14 and then again in my 20s. That was fantastic. I'd forgotten so much of it, and had some scenes with LotR mixed up in my head (that book is also in my pile to be read now). So far, I've read more books in the last month than I had all of last year (the others were Northanger Abbey and Persuasion by Jane Austen, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver... okay so only four books, which tells the sad story of my reading life last year). What are you reading?
I got my
femme_fest assignment today and I'm quite excited. I'm ready to plot and plan. But first, work...I suppose.
