Hi hi hello

Had my followup with my chiropractor today. She had nothing but bad news and apologized profusely for it. I have what is likely a birth defect (spondyloisthesis) that caused one vertebrae to slip out of line with the others, and the resulting years of slippage has in turn caused arthritis and a ruptured disc. I need an MRI but the insurance company won't pay for it until I've had at least four weeks of physical therapy but from the x-ray, she's worried that exercise (including yoga) is likely to increase my current injury so she's doing pain management (traction, electronic stimulation, ice, and ultrasound) for the next four weeks to meet the insurance company's requirement and then I'll have an MRI and likely be directed toward a surgeon, which we're not thinking about right now.

So. No yoga, which is actually what I'm most upset about. Luckily, my studio offers a meditation class (for free!) on Sunday nights, though I paid in advance for twenty classes and only used three--no refunds and it expires in March. I'm going to see if I can donate the time if she's really totally serious about the no refunds thing. It's a small business and one I definitely want to return to and I knew the rules when I bought the pass, so I'll accept whatever the owner says but I'm hoping the money doesn't just go to waste.

I don't know. I'm wallowing today. Doughnuts and episodes of The Closer and--don't judge me because I have a broken back and I'm feeling pretty awful--Toddlers and Tiaras. Tomorrow I need to pull myself together, though, because things are painful enough, and I have plans for this year.
