(no subject)
A poem, because this morning I had a pedicure and had my toes painted silver (they shine in the sunlight), which always makes me think of Yeats' "The Song of the Wandering Aengus" (and it's April, so apropos).
( It had become a glimmering girl )
After pedicures, there was coffee and shopping (so much shopping). I ended up buying four dresses and a skirt (plus three shirts and a cardigan), nothing that was on my list (except the skirt) but I needed the dresses, falling in love with each one of them in turn. ETA: ah, the links were buggered and I'm much too tired to fix them. Suffice to say, all girly, all fit-and-flare, at least half a coral-y orange, which, oddly, is the color of the one dress I already own. Now I've three.
I've gone from owning one dress in the last three years that I never wore to Aggressively Girly. Not a complaint. It's strange though. I've grown out my hair from it's boy cut of yore, regular mani/pedicures, perfume (Gucci's Guilty), to plotting out makeup. I've never worn makeup beyond mascara on occasion. I've no idea how to apply it (or how to manage my longer hair, either). I suspect this is the form my mid-life crisis is taking. It feels a lot like puberty. I may discover boys next.
I took a ring in to be sized today, too. It was my mom's--her high school graduation gift from her grandmother, a really lovely star sapphire set in white gold. I'm also having a pair of earring made from a Mexican fire opal pendant and ring set that I got when I was a girl. I feel like I've already talked about this here but maybe only to Laura? I don't remember. I took three watches in to have batteries replaced, too. I have what amounts to an accidental watch collection (as in, I didn't mean to have a collection but managed to have between 40-50 watches anyway). I took in a dressy gold Mickey Mouse that I wore as a teenager, a black Gucci watch my mom gave me in my 20s, and a black Lord of the Rings watch I bought myself some years ago. I was lucky in that I was able to sell enough old gold to pay for the cost of making the earring and doing the repairs.
Sleepy now, and I have a lot to do tomorrow, yoga being at the top of that list since I haven't been since last Saturday. I'm taking these next four weeks to build up my strength and endurance so that I can switch to some more vigorous classes once I come back from my vacation. Sleep now. Catching up and such tomorrow. <3
