Fandom Reminiscing

I ran across an entry by someone who was reminiscing about the beginnings of Livejournal, back when you had to have an invitation to join. Mine was from untappedbeauty back in 2002. I had just discovered slash that summer and began posting stories to a Lotrips yahoo group in August ( this one, actually, which I'm not going to reread because it'll make me want to crawl under a rock). She had the most gorgeous Sean Bean icon. I don't think she's around here much anymore, but then I haven't been either. I keep thinking about how much I miss journaling and then I reminded myself that there was a remedy for that.

Hey! Ha, I can't even remember how I joined. I think it was around 2002, though. Theatrical_Muse was the first community I joined and wrote for. Fun times! Met some cool people. :)

I had joined a group called Contrelemontre, which was writing prompts under a time limit. It was good fun and still going now...not strong, but there are entries from this year so better than me!

Oh, I'm pretty good. Hanging in there. :) Writing muse being a pain in the ass at the moment, but I live in hope, heh. I wrote a couple of things for contrelemontre! I miss the super active LJ days, but I have to admit, I enjoy Tumblr a lot -- IV drip for fandom junkies for sure.

Tumblr really really works for me some days when I don't have the energy for anything else...which was essentially the last year. I can't quite forgive it for making me trip and fall into the Supernatural fandom though... That's a fandom that will completely suck you in. I've drawn about a hundred lines in the fandom sand about how far I would go and crossed every one. For the first time since I was in Lotrips, I'm seriously considering going to a con, which I actually think might be madness.

I really wish I had finished that story. I think our writing muses must have fled the country together :D It's been ages since I wrote anything. I decided that one way to deal with it would be to take it easy and not beat myself up over it, not push or force it. Of course, the way I actually chose to deal with it was to sign up for a big bang this summer.

Supernatural, actually, which I've never written before. The glow has worn off actually, so likely I'll drop out. There are, apparently, over 500 writers who signed up. Crazy! I have an idea for an original story that I think I want to pursue instead.

I was too shy to ask for an invite in 2003, so I actually paid for the membership, and it was so worth it. Good times.
